This past week I took a week of Holidays from work. Although I could have easily used this time to focus my entire day to studying, I chose to do something different.
I gave myself a break.
Instead of burying my nose into a book for hours each day, I allowed myself to sleep in and enjoy the Olympic coverage. I spent time at the mall with some friends, played video games, read novels, spent days outside, and even took a nap one afternoon.
Oh, and I saw Coldplay during the week before my holidays started – which kicked off two weeks of fantastic fun.
It may have seemed like a backwards idea to put away the books for awhile, but it appears to have paid off in the long run. I am enjoying reading and studying once again.
It took a few days to get into the idea of “relaxing” with no work or extreme study sessions.. However, I am going back to work (and studying) much more rested this way, and will be able to commit to my busy schedule with a clear mind and soul.
What an awesome feeling.
